Alba Mercado joined ERA as Development Officer in 2017. In her role, she supports the development team by managing all institutional and corporate giving. She brings over a decade of experience in philanthropy, policy advocacy and leading gender equity initiatives.
Prior to joining ERA, Alba managed fundraising and grantmaking programs at the Latino Community Foundation. During her tenure, she led the annual Grantee process that awarded over $400K in community investments to over twenty community-based organizations in the state. She spent well over four years managing the renowned Women’s Policy Institute at the Women’s Foundation of California. In her role, she provided oversight of the Institute and selected community-based women leaders to work on developing and implementing legislative policies on issues spanning economic security, higher education, health and criminal justice.
She has a strong vision for social change and transformative solutions that inspire hope and well-being in all communities. Alba is most inspired by leaders and movements that lead from a place of love and promote conscious and ethical practices on a local and global level.
She devotes her time to making advances on behalf of women’s health and rights, and currently sits on the Board of California Latinas for Reproductive Justice, is a graduate of the Women’s Policy Institute and alumn of the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality Leadership Institute. She is a proud graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Latino studies.
