Writing/Blogging Internships
Founded in 1974, Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) is a non-profit legal organization dedicated to protecting and expanding economic and educational access and opportunities for women and girls. ERA has long advocated for female students, immigrant and low-wage workers, women working in male-dominated fields, women facing sexual harassment and the glass ceiling, and working families in need of pregnancy or family medical leave and other accommodations. ERA has campaigns to achieve Education Equity, empower Marginalized Women Workers, and assist Working Families.
Internship Description (8 to 10 hours/week—telecommuting is ok)
50% managing ERA’s social media channels:
- Manage, engage and grow ERA’s audience and support base through social media channels (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Tap into influential followers and design campaigns to amplify ERA’s message.
- Strategize story-telling tactics to strengthen connections between lenders and borrowers.
- Track analytics across channels to demonstrate growth and engagement.
50% managing and writing for ERA’s Blog:
- Produce and edit high quality content for the ERA Blog.
- Work closely with all teams at ERA to tell stories from across the organization.
- Strategize a mix of posts that educate, inspire, and encourage engagement and support.
- Track blog traffic and report insights that could help grow readership.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
- BA or equivalent degree required.
- Has journalism, public relations, technical writing, or editorial experience.
- Has established presences on and experience using social media channels.
