About ERA

José Luis Gómez

Program Assistant

José Luis joined ERA as the Program Assistant in November 2017, where he supports and learns from the work of ERA’s incredible legal team. Having been raised by an immigrant single mother, José Luis is passionate about using his privileges and the opportunities he has been granted to create a more just and equitable world.

Prior to joining ERA, José Luis served as a Case Manager at the Oakland Catholic Worker – supporting recently arrived immigrants in their adjustment to the Bay Area. José Luis holds a B.A. in Public Policy Analysis & Sociology from Pomona College, and he credits much of his knowledge to the women of the CLEAR (Compañeras, Lideres, Emprendedoras, Aliadas, y Revolucionarias) program at the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center.

On his free time, José Luis enjoys exploring the Bay Area’s vegan options and taking early morning runs – preferably to his favorite cupcake shop.
