ERA Statement on Net Neutrality Repeal

December 14, 2017 | by
Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to repeal net neutrality regulations. Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) Executive Director Noreen Farrell issued the following statement in response:

“By siding with business over democracy in repealing net neutrality, the FCC has taken a reckless step that undermines civil rights and all movements for social justice.

Communities whose rights are under attack rely on an open and free internet to access information, contact their legislators, share their stories, and connect with services. As a civil rights organization, a neutral internet allows us to raise awareness, reach communities, and mobilize.

This is not what a free and open democracy looks like. We call on Congress to take immediate action to preserve net neutrality.”
