Phil Bokovoy, 2015 Gender Justice Honoree
Equal Rights Advocates will recognize long-time supporter Phil Bokovoy as a 2015 Gender Justice Honoree. The award will be given on June 11, 2015, at ERA’s annual gala luncheon.
The Gender Justice Honoree award is given each year to civil rights champions whose support has made ERA stronger. An advisor, mentor, and supportive ally to ERA board and staff for decades, Phil is a shining example of commitment to the cause.
For over two decades, Phil has dedicated himself to the mission of ERA as a member of our Board of Directors and various committees. He has enriched ERA and many other non-profits with his lifelong commitment to civil rights and social justice, tremendous finance and development experience, and strategic guidance. Phil recently stepped down as the Development Director of the Shanti Project, but continues in his role as CFO. For 40 years, Shanti has provided emotional support and services for community members with HIV/AIDS and others with life-threatening or chronic illnesses. Prior to joining the Shanti Project, Phil provided consulting to various non-profits and was a senior finance executive at Bank of America and an associate at Shearman and Sterling. Phil received his MA in Economics and J.D. from UC Berkeley.
In Phil’s own words:
“I feel passionately that our society should fully support equality for women and girls. ERA has fought doggedly for many years, often against great odds and with limited resources, on behalf of women and girls and has won so many important victories. Today the world is a better place because of the work that ERA does, and I am proud to have been a supporter for more than 25 years.”
