KRON 4 News: Bay Area students react to renewed Cornell gang rape investigation

ERA’s Maha Ibrahim was featured on KRON 4 (Bay Area) news speaking about the Cornell Seven sexual assault:

Maha Ibrahim, director of gender-based violence law programs at Equal Rights Advocates, said the case would have been handled differently in California because of stricter laws. She said one in four women experience sexual assault before college graduation, but that many women do not report their assaults out of fear.

“Women in colleges and universities fear that they have more to lose by reporting than members of the general population do, and that’s because of exactly what we’ve seen happen at Cornell, unfortunately,” Ibrahim said.
