The Miscellany News: Vassar agrees to $5 million settlement in gender discrimination suit
August 27. 2026
Vassar College’s student newspaper, The Miscellany News, published a front-page story in their back-to-school issue with an in-depth look into ERA’s class action pay discrimination lawsuit against the College, with our co-counsel Lieff Cabraser. Vassar agreed to settle the 3-year lawsuit for $5 million.
ERA Litigation Director Catherine Bendor is quoted:
“I think this settlement is a win for working women everywhere,” said Catherine Bendor, the litigation director at Equal Rights Advocates and the professors’ co-counsel. “No woman should be paid less for substantially similar work, just because of their gender. Our clients dedicated much of their lives to teaching and uplifting students at a school founded on values of gender equality.”
