Equal Pay Day is March 12. Here are 3 easy ways to participate.

This year, Women’s Equal Pay Day falls on Tuesday, March 12, and it’s crucial to spotlight the ongoing issue of pay inequity faced by women across various demographics. According to the latest census data, women working full-time, year-round are still paid only 84 cents on average for every dollar paid to men. This disparity is even more pronounced when considering all earners, with women earning an average of just 78 cents on average.

This average accounts for women of all races and ethnicities in the United States, but the average gap is even greater for women of color. Black women, for example are paid an average 66 cents per dollar paid to white men. View all the averages here.

We refuse to accept these gaps as the status quo. Raising awareness and taking action is our goal for every Equal Pay Day we observe throughout the year.

Here are 3 ways you can participate with us:

  1. Join the social media storm Tuesday, March 12 at 11am PT/2pm ET
Help us drive the conversation toward equality by participating in the national social media storm by sharing Equal Pay Day content. We have a new and improved toolkit you can use. It’s very easy to share posts to your social media channels– only a few clicks and you’re done!
  2. Take action to close the wage gap
Send pre-drafted emails to Congress supporting the Salary Transparency Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act. Both will provide better economic outcomes for women in the workforce, and eliminate bias in the hiring process. Head to the Equal Pay Today action center and get started!
  3. Donate to the Equal Pay Today campaign
Equal Pay Today is a collaboration between partners and advocacy organizations across the country. Our work raising awareness and passing pay equity legislation has inspired (and continues to inspire) new pay equality policies in 42 states. Honor Equal Pay Day with a donation of any amount today.
