Noreen Farrell, Executive Director of Equal Rights Advocates, which has spent more than 50 years fighting for women’s rights in workplaces, schools, and public life, released the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s criminal investigation of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)

April 22, 2026—The Trump administration’s targeting of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is not law enforcement. It’s the latest attempt to dismantle civil rights and silence the organizations that protect them.

Equal Rights Advocates is proud to work alongside SPLC in the fight to build a country where everyone can live and work without fear of hate, discrimination, and violence. That is the mission the Trump administration is trying to stop.

ERA’s work will not waiver. We will not be intimidated. Alongside our civil rights partners, we will continue working to defend essential freedoms and fight back against baseless, politically-motivated attacks.
