CBS Los Angeles: Mifepristone Availability Decision & California Impact

April 21. 2023

ERA Executive Director Noreen Farrell was interviewed live on CBS Los Angeles about today’s Supreme Court decision on Mifepristone, a pill used to induce medical abortion, and how it will affect Californians:

“The reality is that we are effectively step-by-step in this country removing bodily autonomy and reproductive choice from the people that can’t afford to access care in other ways.”
     – Noreen Farrell, Executive Director

Key quote: “Obviously removing the mail option will have incredibly tough consequences. People have to take time off of work. They have to pay travel costs to get to a medical office. They have to endure the stigma of going out into public to seek an abortion, which people face every single day. And so the reality is that we are effectively step-by-step in this country removing bodily autonomy and reproductive choice from the people that can’t afford to access care in other ways. And those are the people that Equal Rights Advocates is focused on, making sure that we’re coming up with solutions, and fighting the legal fights that we need to to protect those most vulnerable low-income families and people that are making these decisions.”

“It’s a concerning moment, not just for women, but for anybody who can become pregnant in this country.”
     – Noreen Farrell, Executive Director
