Inside Higher Ed: U. of Oregon Will Allow Professor Suing It to Retire

ERA Executive Director Noreen Farrell was quoted today in Inside Higher Ed about an equal pay case for University of Oregon professor Jennifer Freyd. The University recently told Freyd she couldn’t take the retirement incentive package offered to her colleagues unless she dropped her lawsuit, but they changed their mind after being pressured.
“Demanding that Prof. Freyd give up her legal claims challenging pay discrimination as a condition of early retirement is nothing short of retaliation. This is precisely why women fear coming forward to assert their civil rights.”
ERA has been involved in Professor Freyd’s case since 2018.
