“I wanted to bring awareness, not only to get a sense of peace for myself, but so other people don’t feel alone.”

Samar Rafiqzad, ERA student client

Samar Rafiqzad survived sexual assault in her high school classroom. When she reported the incident, her school severely mishandled the situation. Speaking out on behalf of herself and her classmates who were also assaulted by the same student, she publicly shared her story on Twitter, powerfully calling out her school.

Watch Samar share her story on local news.

With Equal Rights Advocates, Samar learned all about her Title IX rights using our Know Your Rights guide for student survivors, and received legal advice and counseling through our ENOUGH program for student survivors of sexual violence. Learn more about ENOUGH .
